Now while seeing a great white pointer coming out of a tornado may seem slightly more daunting than a geriatric surfing a tidal wave, the impact of the latter is much more profound, predictable and likely.

The arguments supporting life cycle approaches to investment are eminently sensible and, on the surface, sound like the ideal way to deal with the unengaged default member. But scratch beyond the superficial optics and simple marketing message of many of these funds and a variety of issues begins to emerge.
